[images description: an sac webcomic page.a young girl is hunched over a plastic table in an unlit and decrepit room. the room itself is painted in a cheery cartoonish sky, with white fluffy clouds and birds shaped like the letter V. it looks like a childs drawing, but is tained by the shadows and cracks in the walls, the once cheery sun in the corner partially covered in a stain. across from the girl is a small window, barred with reinforced glass. the girl herself is dressed in a white dressing gown and pink nightie is and is alone aside from the watching security camera in the corner.
Until walks in a person with a purple shirt and vibrant orange hair, standing out from the blue tones in the room. they turn to look at the girl with an “oh.”. the person in question is a younger looking quartz, looking mostly the same as he usually does with the exception of a dark electronic collar and the lack of any crystals at all, having a full set of limbs.
“hey princess.”. they walk over to the table, which only has some crayons and a pile of blank paper. the girl, now clearly a much younger captain x, takes a moment to respond to them. she peeks an eye out to look at him, face hiding in her arms on the table. “do you miss your parents?” she asks.
“hm? not particularly. dont miss my old man thats for sure. why?” he raises an eyebrow and stares back, casually resting an elbow on the back of his chair. “…i miss my mothers. i havent seen them since before i was brought here. shes sat up a bit, looking away from them. end id]
a brief glimpse at caps old life. that room was originally blank, one of the other residents painted it to make it look happier. didnt work.
for timeline purposes: this takes place at least five years ago. so cap and quartz are at most 15 and 20 respectivly here. maybe a little younger
chapter 4, page 6
[image description: an sac webcomic page. “she’s in a briefing. Mrs Garcia requested one regarding… last nights incident.” one of the women replies, to which rami responds with an “oh.”. in panel, we see a very grumpy looking cap, grossing her arms while sitting at a desk and glaring up at sunflower, who is pictured from behind, standing over her.
“the fucking cunt dared actually knock on our fucking door for it” says ruby, and we can see a flashback of said incident, with sun flower in her civilian form, light stawberry blonde hair in a bun, green eyes, and dress shirt and tie. ruby herself is standing in front of her, with one hand on the open door and is glaring up with all the fury she has in her. she slams the door into sun flowers mildly suprised face with a yell of “GET FUCKED”.
“the fucking nerve of that woman.” states a rather annoyed farah, the point of view now back in the current time and place. ruby stands over the frying pan, a dark cloud around her, speech bubble dripping with hate. “only way that fucking pig is getting in here is with a fucking warrent.”
“oh” is again all rami can say. the borzoi beside him has their snout right above ramis leg, looking up at him. behind them both is cam, in an oversized pink shirt hiding behind the wall in the same manner rami did earlier. end id]
both of caps mothers hold a LOT of resentment for the current system and for sun flower specifically
chapter 4, page 5
[image description: an sac webcomic page. “i understand that you.. havent really needed much superpowered healing before” the panel focuses on farah’s hand resting on top the other, next to the part full mug of tea. “but you’ll need to eat a lot to regain your energy. and more sleep” she continues. rami frowns but then lightens up- in terms of emotional mood and lighting, and he holds up his hands, facing outwards and smiles, “it’s okay, i dont want to bother you!” he says.
“you’ll never bother us, rami” she replies, looking concerned. over near the countertop, ruby is reaching for something in the cuboard. “i am already making pancakes” she calls out, the frying pan already on the hob, and the jar of batter sitting under a sign reading “age gets better with wine”.
“oh, okay. thank you” hes gripping his arm but overall seems less nervous and is no longer trying to pull himself into the blanket. he then looks concerned again and asks “…where’s xandra?” end id]
rami: its okay! everything is fine haha :)
cap’s mums, already having raised her stubborn ass: absolutely fucking not. its pancake time
chapter 4, page 9
[image description: an sac webcomic page. “i’m fine, really. don’t worry” rami lies, hands raised with palms out in a peacefull gesture. he is smiling, but looking slightly uncomfortable.
“i saw you bleeding to death.” she states, reaching out to grab his hand, the one with the knife scars. he doesnt look at her as he responds with “i got better?”. she pauses, still holding onto his fingers where the scars lie, not saying anything before startling him with a hug, clutching onto his sweater.
“…are you okay?” he asks, hugging her back. “if i have to answer that honestly so do you.”
he doesnt say anything, and hes thinking of and decided not to say several things, shown visually by faded speech bubbles with stricked through words, such as “I’m safe now but I’m still scared and I don’t know why because it’s over and I’m safe now and-” the end of the thought is cut off, and there are a couple more thoughts following which are “I thought I was going to die. And you’d be next.” and lastly “I’ve never been more afraid”.
on the other end, cams is also having toruble finding the right words to say and chooses not to say several thoughts: “I thought you would die” and “you’re like a brother to me”, and “i killed him. i dont regret it.”, and “you’re more family than most of my actual relatives.”
“i stole your stuff back from the crime scene before the cops got there” is what is eventually said by cam, which rami thanks her for. end id]
rami: thanks sis
cam: me? cis? as if
hoping i managed to convey the conversational version of typing, erasing, and retyping a message over and over agin vibes
Start here! I’ve got the title page and first four comic pages up, and there’s links to a few of my older test comics under Misc. as well!
Outliers is a romantic slice-of-life comic about longtime gay couple Chary and Walt, who’re doing their best and living their lives in a dumb comic book world full of all the nonsense that sort of setting usually entails. Chary is a bi disabled lawyer who represents metahumans in therapy, and Walt is a nonbinary cook who sometimes turns into a giant bird monster. Together they don’t fight crime, thank you very much. Please, just a moment of peace and quiet. Please.
I’m very excited, y’all! I’ve had lots of webcomic ideas and attempts over the years, and this is the one I’ve been most excited and happy about to dig into! Been busy gearing up towards this over the past several months, and it’s finally launch day, hooray! Updates have a chance of being a little sporadic, as I’m squeezing the art-making in while working a full-time day job, but if all goes well, Outliers will be updating once a week on Wednesdays (Tuesday nights if you’re a night owl)!
I hope y’all enjoy it! I’ve put a lot of effort into getting to this point, and I hope everybody likes my boys as much as I do. Any reblogs to spread the word would be hella appreciated!
