Hi friends! We’re going to be at ECCC this year! Come by GG-12 for some excellent queer historical goodies, including comics! Also don’t forget to follow the Private I tumblr blog for extras! :)
SuperButch is a webcomic by Becky Hawkins and Barry Deutsch about a lesbian superhero in the 1940s who protects the bar scene from corrupt cops. If you’d like to help us make more, please support the SuperButch patreon or check out our print comics. Thanks!

Hi Yinz!
WE’RE BACK!
And…things have gotten a bit monochrome around here, haven’t they? Hmmm….
Well, we had a good long think about what’s coming up next in the comic and we decided we needed to go back and turn everything black and white. You’ll see why soon! We promise!
Thanks for sticking with us and being patient! We were so happy to see some of yinz at STAPLE, and we hope to see some more at SPX this weekend!
We’re back to our usual updating schedule - so we’ll see you again next Wednesday at 10:00 AM EST! For now, enjoy some good ole detective narration and the introduction of the strange town of Fort Monoghan!
Introducing the adorable freckled wonder! Talents include interrupting conversation to advance the plot, and being gosh darn cute!
Dorothy is the Master of Sass and don’t you forget it
Also if you like prose, Em is writing and Ann and drawing an illustrated novel - the first two chapters of which are currently up! Full of knights, a paladin, and maybe even a dragon, Words and Strength is a fun, historical high fantasy gay romance!
The plot thickens…
(We’ve got something special for yinz for Valentine’s Day! Stick around for a minute after reading this page to see what it is!)
Fun historical note: One of the most common breakfast items during WWII was spam. And things like eggs and butter were super rare and specialized foodstuffs that one could get in VERY limited quantities with their ration cards. Howard isn’t just being a nice host - he’s pulling out all the stops for Dorothy, who he suspects is used to a higher quality of living!
And yes - that peptobismal pink was the color of a LOT of things in the 40s - including kitchens!
NOTE: No comic update next week! Ann and I are going on an honest to goodness vacation where we don’t work at ALL! But we’ll be back the week after with our regularly scheduled updates! <3
